For Our Visitors-What to Expect
1. Friendliness: When you visit us, you can expect to find friendly people who are genuinely concerned about you. YOU WILL BE OUR HONORED GUEST! God does not show partiality to men (Acts 10:34-35). Likewise Christians assembling a the church of Christ in Oakman, AL do not show partiality toward men. (cf. Rom 12:9-16; James 21-13).
2. Order: Paul commands that all things in the church be done decently and in order (1 Cor 14:40). During our worship services, you will see that we have a preset order which has been determined in accordance with God's word. One man will make announcements, another one or more will lead singing, others will lead prayers, and some others will serve the Lord's Supper and take up the collection. During our Bible classes, you will see the class courteously conducted in a edifying manner. We search the Scriptures diligently to rightly divide God's word.
3. A Church of Christ: The word "church" means a called out body. Christians are people who respond to God's gospel call (II Thess 2:4). When you visit with us, you will see that we teach and do the things which are authorized in God's word. Scripture is our only guide (II Tim 3_15-17). We neither add to God's word nor take away from God's word (Rev 22:18-19).
4. A Church Obeying Jesus: What would you expect when visiting a faithful church of Christ? Bible study on the church of Christ. If you wish we will show you God's commands in the Bible and help you obey that very hour of the day. And you can be like the Ethiopian eunuch who was baptized and went on his way rejoicing (Acts 8:38-39).

Bearing Witness
“Once for all I have sworn by my holiness. I will not lie to David. His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me. Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies.” (Ps 89:35-37)
The context of this passage is the continuing permanence of the throne of David. It would be established even as the moon is established in perpetuity. But, there is a phrase that the Psalmist (inspired by God through the Holy Spirit), uses. He says that the moon is a “faithful witness”. So what was David (who peened the Psalm), trying to convey? He is saying the moon acts as a witness to the Creator of the moon, and everything else. But also, that David could rely on God’s covenantal promise regarding the throne of David, because he is the Grand Creator. Remember what David wrote in (Ps 19:1); “The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows his handiwork.” The moon, as well as, all the planets, stars and the sun testify to the source responsible for their creation. But why specifically is the moon a witness? Consider first of all, the definition of the word “witness”. “One who can give a firsthand account of something seen, heard, or experienced”. So, in effect, a witness sees something firsthand and then reports to those who did not see firsthand. But again, in what way does the moon “witness” to all humanity, or convey firsthand information that it has access to that which humanity does not? Consider this; having been created, it now serves as a literal witness of something that it “sees” or “experiences” that we mere humans on earth cannot. Which is… the light of the sun. That moon has no light of it’s own, but reflects the light of the sun. As the sun sets and those who are now in darknes cannot view it any longer. But, we may still “see” the sun and be certain of it’s continued existence by means of the reflection of the sun’s light. The moon literally “witnesses” to the reality of the sun, conveying to night viewers the sunlight they cannot now view firsthand. Remember the definition of a “witness”? The moon “reports” what it is “seeing” firsthand to those who cannot see firsthand what is being reported. The only way the Psalmist could have known of this incredible astronomical reality if if his hand was guided by a divine Creator who, set the moon itself in motion.
Someone once said; “As the sun reflected and witnessed to the perpetuity of David’s throne, so the moon reflects and witnesses to the reality of the sun.” And incredibly, like the moon; “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not that light, but came to bear witness about the light. The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world” (John 1:6-9).
None of us today can be witness to deity on earth, in the form of Jesus. So John served as an eyewitness to His reality. Reflecting His glory to us.
